I'm back

So for the past few weeks I've been in exile of sorts from this thing. Lots have gone on since then, and I've been so busy this was pretty much the last thing on my mind. School's almost done, so thats good. My trip to Barbados was fun, and I got a lot accomplished with the people I'll be working for down there. 8 months till i fly down there, I can't wait. I guess this post has no point, or purpose, but just to write something. If anyone reads this let me know. Sorry it's so boring, just a bit burnt out from this whole school thing.

Presentations

I'm going to start this oone off with a question. How many people like bad in class presentations? No one, at least I can't imagine anyone likes them. The only time a bad presentation is ok is when the Powerpoint slides keep changing and it pisses off the kid that gave you shit about your music selection at your job, ya thats ok I guess. But other than that rare occasion, a bad presentation is just bad and aweful to sit through. So in a class of mine we have been doing presentations for about two weeks now. Some were ok, but some were bad. My group's was hilariously filled with mistakes (red lettering with a red background) thanks to a group memeber that wasn't sure how to use powerpoint. But the bad ones, oh man just so hard to sit through. So my tips for a good presentation: Dress nicely (tuck in your shirt, a tie wouldnt hurt either), girls usually do this one just fine, proofread your slides, don't use words you can't pronounce and obviously do not understand, and don't read word for word off your slides, oh and have some enthusiasm too. If you follow those rules you should be good. Those are my words of wisdom for the day. And as an update there is just about a month left in the semester, and summer can't come fast enough.

From the sound booth

For all of you that don't know (who you are I'm not really sure) but I have been the gamenight DJ for the hockey team in town for this year's season. Thankfully the season is almost done. It's been a long, slow season. It's hard watching your team lose night after night, even though the season started out on a large win streak. As the DJ, no matter how bad the game is, it's my job to play up beat music to get fans cheering. Well I'll be honest, when your team is down 5-1 music isn't going to help at all. But it's what I get paid to do, so like it or not I play music that no one claps too, and instead boo the team and change the words of chants to say "Falcons suck!" So those are the bad nights, the ones that have made this season ridiculously long. But there is a flip side to it, because on some nights we actually win. Other nights we actually get good crowds. On bad nights we get about 2,200 people, and as some will point out, this town has no "real hockey fans. Real hockey fans would demand real hockey music and that is not real hockey music" -Mr. Flavor-. Now mix that with a bad game and you can imagine how dead that building is. But now imagine our best night of about 5,000 people and a close, hard hitting game, with good goals from both sides, and an eventual home win. Playing music that night was amazing. It was me that got 5,000 people clapping and saying "Go Falcons, GO!" That's not a feeling that can really be described, more one that needs to be experienced. Those are good times and keep me coming back and hoping that the next game can be even close to that. Last night we beat my hometown team 7-4 with an amazing goal scoring run in the 3rd. The crowd was small but really into it. Wins are so rare here that the entire mood of the place changed and it was like we had won the Calder Cup. After a few minutes the mood changed when reality kicked in and everyone realized that we have 3 games left and aren't even close to the playoffs, but it was fun for a few minutes right. After next weeks games I'll probably post another little thing looking back on the season, but I just felt like rambling about this stuff right now so I hope you enjoyed and I know you are looking forward to next weeks thoughts on the season.

Friday

Finally it's Friday. It's been a crazy week with ups and downs for my friends. All of us have had good days and bad days. But that's what I like about Fridays. No matter how the week went, people always look to Friday night. Maybe you go out and get runk with friends, maybe you stay in and play board games. It doesn't matter. What you are not doing is working, or at least not the same work you did all week long. So Friday's bring a smile to everyones faces, and that means that they are good. So enjoy today and forget about the week for just a few hours.

The life of a friend of an RA

The point of this whole post right here is to retell a short but crazy story about tonight. I was hanging out, studying and watching a movie with my friend, MF, who's an RA in my building if you didn't know that. So the RA lounge thing is in the hall leading to the door of the building and everyone has to walk right past. So we are sitting there watching drunk and non drunk people walk by, pretty much minding their own business. Some say hi now and then to MF and some don't. Then this one jerk comes in the hall, takes two steps towards the door out and pukes everywhere, and then keeps walking like nothing happened. Well personally I thought it was hilarious, but MF, being the good RA she is, jumps into action and finds the kid and with some help drags him back in to clean up his own mess. Man, what a mess, it was everywhere. After 30 min of cleaning with various cleaning products the place was decently cleaned. The end to the story was the kid was annoying the whole time he cleaned up, the puke was disgusting, and it smelled pretty bad too. The moral of the story is: If you are so drunk you don't realize you puked, you probably don't want to be around MF, she'll make you clean it up. Thanks for the life lesson kid, I needed it.

Blogging, day 1

So this is the 3rd post of the day. I know I'm going to slow down soon, but its addicting. Writing down my random stuff and having no one read it, it's good. To all of you that did read this so far, thanks, I appreciate it. Feel free to post any comments or ask clarifying questions, cause I'm gonna tell ya, a lot of these stories will revolve around inside jokes and "ya had to be there" 's. And as a special note, to anyone that doesn't know me but reads this anyway, hi and thanks for being interested in a random person enough to read about them. Hope I'm not too boring. Last comment for the night before I dive right into a movie and studying, my April is crazy, with too many trips and too many projects. I can't wait to go on all the trips and have all the projects done. That's enough for today.

Wow- Updated

Nick and I have reached a new low. And so it is written. Ok this may not make any sense to anyone but basically nick and I are just sad. We have to get out of the computer lab and get out into the world more often. I want to clarify this though, we aren't neccesarily losers, just enjoy doing loserish things. For the most part we are pretty normal though. So that's that for that story. I'm just going to move on and pretend that that didnt happen. Oh and to anyone that confuses this with Livejournal, it's different. A blog is cool, a journal is less cool. That is the difference. Thanks.

And so it was written.

The book of Merm. Ths musings of Merm on all things that enter his life. OK so enough with the third person 'cause that gets creepy. This is the Book, the mythical one that I have been referring to in person for about 2 months now. All things in my life, all comments, sayings, and opinions are "written in the Book of Merm" And so finally the Book will be written. I'm going to promise daily 'cause we all know that won't happen, but on a semi-regular, sometimes basis new things will be written, and posted, in the Book of Merm. It'll get funnier, I'm new to the game. Enjoy.
